What you need to know about the
Big Sky Summer of Science

Who – Big Sky Build It! enrichment workshops are taught by a team of skilled science educators led by Michael Sheppard. Over the past 16 years, Michael has led thousands of Santa Fe’s children and teens through exciting educational science programs. Big Sky Learning has been Santa Fe’s resource for innovative science, math, and language educational programs. We also provide year-round tutoring, assessment, home school, and enrichment programs at our down town learning center.

What –
A series of week-long all day hands-on science enrichment workshops. Teams of up to 20 young scientists work closely with skilled teachers (1:5 student/teacher ratio) as they explore the tools, skills, and science of electronics, physics, and chemistry. Our enrichment programs are geared for three different age groups, 5-7, 8-10, and 11-14.

When –
The summer session starts on Monday, June 9th and ends on Friday, August 15th. Campers arrive at 9:00 am and stay until 3:30pm.  Pre care from 8:00-9:00am and 3:30-5:00pm is available for $6 per hour.  Campers bring their own lunch.

Where –
This year we will be Buildin' It!  at the new Alvord magnet school for environmental sustainability on Paseo de Peralta in the Railyard.

Why – We are on a mission to help children discover what they are really capable of.  Our quality of life depends on our understanding of life.  It also depends on our ability to create a satisfying life in a healthy world.  Science and invention are two big ways we humans can do this.

How Much –
Each week long workshop is $235.00 + $50 for materials. Some workshops have an additional materials fee that reflects the cost of certain electronic parts.  Families who otherwise could not afford this program pay a sliding fee of $25 to $100 + tax (per camp) to attend.  Click HERE for Scholarship information.   Click HERE to make online payments.
